Starting our journey with the surprisingly modern story of an ancient warrior-king whose restlessness drives him to seek immortality.

  1. I love how you make the case for History and literature v. other types of pastimes. There is always time, even 15 minutes of Twitter time can be sacrificed to gain something new from literature.

I enjoyed this greatly, and learned a lot. I often pass up ancient history for wwii or the American civil war, or the French revolution, so my knowledge is pretty sketchy.

We’ll have to agree to disagree about the Bible stories but I am always willing to listen to all sides. I’m a seeker like many are.

    1. Yes! I’ll be interested to hear your take on the Bible episode. I suspect we may be on similar sides after all, although maybe I’m wrong about that. It was a tough one to wrestle with from a literary perspective, but absolutely essential in any history of literature. Such fantastic stories. Have you listened to the Revolutions podcast? I just ran through the French Revolution episodes and enjoyed them a lot.

Thanks for stopping by – I’m glad you made it over here! 🙂

      1. Ah, there you are. I didn’t get any kind of notice for this reply so I missed it. It’s quite possible that we agree on a lot. One thing I have learned after 50+ years is that the more I learn the less I thought I knew. Wait, that sounds wrong but I think you know what I mean. I’m not as knowledgeable as I think I am. My son and I read through the Old Testament last year. We are on Ezekiel now. Not an in-depth study but certainly an interesting one. I will say for certain this is the first time I am following someone that is looking at it from the view of literature.

Oh and thank you for putting the podcast here. I don’t subscribe to i-tunes but I would have if I had to. I might just go there to find your old ones. I wouldn’t mind hearing the rainbow story again 🙂

Will check out the French Rev, no only yours so far. Take care and good luck

        1. This is such a wonderful comment. I’m so glad you enjoyed the rainbow story. 🙂 🙂 🙂

I’ll be interested to hear your take on the Bible episode – way too much to cover in a short amount of time but I’ll try to pick out a few highlights.
